The Art of Doing Nothing and Its Benefits

We all know how to do nothing. But what exactly does “Doing Nothing” means? Laziness? Idling?  We view doing nothing as a waste of time, but do we know doing nothing is a means of relieving stress? When we allow ourselves time to do nothing, we are giving our brains a break and restoring high-level thinking, and boosting creativity. Doing nothing also gives our bodies a rest.

The art of doing nothing is the active pursuit of rest, relaxation, and just being without allowing outside influences in.

There are multiple ways to do nothing. Here is a few of them:

  • Just sitting or laying down, closing our eyes, and letting our minds wander.
  • Taking a walk and enjoying the natural scenery of the season.
  • Enjoying the aroma of our coffee brewing in the morning.
  • Deep breathing.
  •

Final Point

Most of us associate doing nothing with being non-productive and a waste of time. When was the last time you did nothing? Today, why not try to take a few minutes of your time to do nothing instead of taking the time to be productive? I’m sure you will enjoy every minute of it.
