Since last December, my hobbies started to drift away from me. Not because I stopped caring, but because energy changes and routines shifted. I knew I had to start small if I wanted to pick up my hobbies again.
Recently, I decided to return to watercolor painting.
Not in a dramatic “new beginning” kind of way.
Just gently.
Watercolor Restart — Step 01
I laid out a vinyl tablecloth on the table.
Then I sorted through my watercolor and acrylic paints, separating brushes for each medium and organizing my painting and exercise sheets again.
It was such a small thing.
No pressure to create something meaningful.
Just preparing a space.
And strangely, that alone already felt like movement.
It may not sound like much, but it felt meaningful to me.
I think restarting gently means starting small — one step at a time.
I realized that I don’t need to rush myself back into hobbies or expect myself to immediately feel inspired again. Sometimes, simply preparing the space is already part of the process.
On the same day, I also picked up The Café on the Edge of the World and read three pages. Only three.
But even that felt important.
Right now, I want to restart my hobbies not to be productive, but to make my days feel calmer, more inspired, and a little more joyful again.
